Making a will gives you control. If you want to leave specific items, be they items of sentimental value, jewellery, furniture or property after your death you will need a will. Hopefully you will always be able to make the decisions that affect your life but illness or mental health issues may reduce your ability to make these decisions. A Lasting Power of Attorney provides the means to nominate someone whom you trust to make decisions on your behalf. This will only come into force if either your capacity, to make decisions, is diminished or you choose for it to come into force at anytime.
